Dr. Snyder received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University in 1977. He worked as a clinical practitioner with children, adolescents and families in Boston and New York City before becoming a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Wichita State University where he is currently the Erker Distinguished Professor in Psychology. Dr. Snyder’s teaching and research specialties are developmental psychopathology, the origins and manifestations of aggressive behavior, and the development and evaluation of family- and school-based preventive and clinical interventions for child conduct problems and delinquency. His research has been published in over 50 papers and book chapters. He maintains a clinical practice in WSU Psychology Clinic, and trains and supervises early clinical practicum of doctoral students. He has worked extensively in program development and evaluation with Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Wichita. Dr. Snyder has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on several grants from the National Institute of Health in these research areas. He is on the editorial board of two major journals in his area of expertise, Development and Psychopathology, and Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology.
