Scientist NameAlan Feingold, Ph.D.

Research Associate
Oregon Social Learning Center

Dr. Feingold came to OSLC after having worked for nearly a decade as a biostatistician—directing the statistical research in both psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy—in the Division of Substance Abuse at the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine. In addition to his position at OSLC, he is also Staff Affiliate in Psychiatry at Yale in that division, after having been a statistical consultant for the past few years. Both at OSLC and at Yale, his interest is in applying advanced statistical techniques to complex longitudinal data on substance abuse. At OSLC, he works with developmental data collected from a community sample to assess the effects of substance abuse on intimate partner violence. At Yale, he works with clinical data assessing the effectiveness of drug treatments on reducing tobacco dependence. He is currently planning to move into research examining the effects of both genetics and social factors on transmission of substance abuse behaviors among family members.
