Based on Research Conducted at OSLC
A study of the Norwegian nationwide implementation of the Oregon parent management training program (PMTO) developed at OSLC.
Project Overview
This program was an international collaboration to study the Norwegian nationwide implementation of the parent management training program (PMTO) developed here at OSLC. Three centers collaborated on the project: OSLC, The Norwegian Center for Studies on Behavioral Problems and Innovative Practice in Norway, and the Institute for Social Research in Michigan. The Norwegian implementation goal was to establish PMTO therapists in every municipality to intervene at the early stages of deviant child behavior to prevent later substance abuse, child antisocial behavior, delinquency, and school failure. The NIDA project studied the adoption, adaptation, and implementation of the PMTO model in Norwegian communities across successive cohorts of PMTO therapists. We evaluated adherence to and adaptation of PMTO procedures using interviews, questionnaires, and direct observation of therapy sessions and family interactions.
