Parental influences on children’s willingness to disclose

Victimization during childhood is not uncommon. Children are prey to both family members and strangers, and to some extent the long-term damage resulting from either sexual or physical abuse. Three studies were conducted which present strong evidence that children’s willingness to communicate such information to a parent is dependent on the parents’ behavior.
