El proyecto ampli\u00f3 las pruebas sobre la eficacia de la intervenci\u00f3n obtenidas en dos ensayos aleatorizados previos sobre la eficacia del Programa KITS con poblaciones con necesidades especiales para examinar los efectos de la intervenci\u00f3n en la poblaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s amplia de ni\u00f1os de entornos desfavorecidos en la educaci\u00f3n general. Doscientos sesenta y cinco ni\u00f1os y sus familias fueron reclutados en el proyecto y asignados aleatoriamente a participar en el Programa KITS o en los servicios habituales.
