El objetivo del proyecto era identificar y detallar los m\u00faltiples procesos que tienen lugar en el entorno familiar y entre iguales y que contribuyen al desarrollo social durante la ni\u00f1ez. Se probaron tres teor\u00edas influyentes para determinar sus contribuciones separadas y conjuntas al comportamiento antisocial y depresivo: a) la regulaci\u00f3n de las emociones b) la teor\u00eda social cognitiva, y c) la teor\u00eda coercitivo Se recogieron numerosos datos de observaci\u00f3n en el laboratorio con los padres y el ni\u00f1o, y en el aula y en el patio de recreo con los compa\u00f1eros. Las observaciones se codificaron en funci\u00f3n de la manifestaci\u00f3n emocional mediante el c\u00f3digo de afecto espec\u00edfico (Spaff) y en funci\u00f3n del proceso conductual mediante el c\u00f3digo de proceso familiar y entre compa\u00f1eros (FPP). Adem\u00e1s, los ni\u00f1os y padres recibieron una amplia bater\u00eda de tareas de procesos de informaci\u00f3n social.
