El estudio se realiz\u00f3 en colaboraci\u00f3n con cinco secciones independientes sin \u00e1nimo de lucro de Friends of the Children y cont\u00f3 con la aprobaci\u00f3n de los distritos escolares de cada una de las secciones, as\u00ed como de la Junta de Revisi\u00f3n Institucional de OSLC. Friends of the Children es un programa de tutor\u00eda juvenil a largo plazo que se asocia con distritos escolares locales para identificar a los ni\u00f1os que se consideran m\u00e1s adecuados para su programa. El programa fue fundado por Duncan Campbell en Portland en 1993 y ahora atiende a m\u00e1s de 300 ni\u00f1os en esa ciudad.
