AAPI Statement

Following the violent and deadly attacks against our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members occurring across our nation, and the killings in Atlanta specifically, the OSLC and ODI reaffirm our stance against racism.

What happened in Atlanta was one example of the many attacks on Asian communities and reflects the escalation of anti-Asian violence in the U.S. since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. These acts of violence are based in anti-Asian hate and racism, and are rooted in centuries of racism against those of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in the U.S. We reject this violence against our AAPI communities, and in response we call for an end to AAPI hate and racism by encouraging open dialogue and anti-racist actions with our community.
