Job postings contain information regarding job duties and qualifications, salary range, benefits, closing date, and application requirements.
A completed application form is required each time you apply for a position at OSLC. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of a completed application. Fill out your application form completely. Type or print clearly in ink. Legible photocopies are acceptable.
Submit a completed OSLC employment application (and required supplemental documentation, such as resume and letter of intent) no later than 5 p.m. on the closing date that appears on the job posting; applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
Note: Oregon Social Learning Center job postings are intended as a general descriptive recruitment guide and are subject to change; they do not constitute either an expressed or implied contract. The statements contained in said job postings reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions of the job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Tips for Completing your Job Application
A completed application form is required each time you apply for a position at OSLC. If you plan to apply for more than one position, it is recommended that you fill out an application form to keep as a master copy, and submit photocopies for each vacancy.
The application and recruiting announcements are available in alternate format upon request by calling (541) 485-2711.
Specific points to consider when filling out the OSLC application form:
• Make sure that you indicate the Job Title on the posting you are applying for each time you submit the form.
• Be sure to list any experience, paid or volunteer, that is relevant. If only part of the duties of past jobs are relevant to the required or special qualifications listed for a job, indicate the percent of time spent doing the relevant duties.
• List employment dates (month/year) and hours per week at each job listed. Your answer will not be scored if it is not clear how long you were employed. Partial credit is given for part-time employment.
• Make sure spelling and grammar are correct. Proof it carefully for typographical errors.
• Always sign and date your application packet.
• Make sure the job title is clearly marked.
Tips for Other Written Materials
Many applicants submit a cover letter or letter of intent, with their application packets. This is an opportunity to inform the hiring supervisor how your experience, training, skills, and career aspirations apply to the specifics of the vacancy. It also gives you the chance to discuss items that may not be clear on the application or resume, such as why you have made frequent job changes or wish to leave your current job.
If you are selected as a finalist for a position, the hiring Administrative Officer will notify you by telephone and/or in writing to schedule an interview. If you are interviewed but not selected for the position, you will receive either a telephone call or written notification. All applications will remain on file for at least six months.
The Federal Immigration Reform and Control Act requires individuals to provide, to an employer, documented proof that they are authorized to work in the United States. This proof must be provided and verified by OSLC at the time of hire or no later than three business days after the date of hire.
All applicants offered a position at OSLC must sign a criminal background check consent form. Some applicants will be required to have a fingerprint criminal history check done, based on the specific job duties listed on the posting.
OSLC is an equal employment opportunity employer and does not discriminate because of age, sex, race, color, national origin, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or religious preference.
