The Oregon Social Learning Center is a non-profit, collaborative, multidisciplinary research center dedicated to increasing the scientific understanding of social and psychological processes related to healthy development and family functioning. We apply that understanding to the design and evaluation of interventions that strengthen children, adolescents, families, and communities.

What we do.

• Develop parent education and skills training programs.

• Directly observe child and family social interactions in home, school, and community settings.

• Develop and improve child and family assessment techniques.

• Identify family and peer group social interaction patterns and other factors related to the development of aggressive behavior and delinquency.

• Design and implement multi modal interventions for children and parents to help encourage successful adjustment and discourage aggressive behaviors within the family, the school, and the community.

• Examine social and biological variables simultaneously in studies of family interaction and child development.

• Move interventions for families from the laboratory and into community systems, such as juvenile justice, child welfare, and corrections.

• Work with communities as a partner.

• Apply advanced statistical methodology to the analysis of longitudinal data on child and family processes and outcomes.
