OSLC Administration
OSLC uses a collaborative approach to day-to-day management. All OSLC research scientists are members of the Scientist Council, which is the major management decision-making body and reports directly to the Board of Directors. Three research scientists are elected to serve on the Management Committee, which works closely with the OSLC Senior Administrator and her staff to carry out the policies set by the Board of Directors and the management directives of the Scientist Council. Other standing operational committees include Human Resources, Facilities, Information Technology, and Budget. Standing committees comprise staff from various levels, including scientists, administrative staff and employees on specific research projects, and each reviews issues in their respective areas and proposes plans to the Management Committee for refinement prior to sending to the Scientist Council and the Board of Directors for approval. An additional committee, Staff Representatives Committee in Service, comprises staff representatives from work groups with OSLC and serves as a conduit for sharing information back and forth about issues being discussed by the Scientist Council and the Board as well as for bringing new issues to both decision making bodies.
